Hope the writing is going well!
You submissions have been tallied and I'm about to send off the first round of e-mails about critique partners. Here's how this is going to work:
You'll get an e-mail. In that e-mail there will be 3 or 4 names along with synopses. It will look something like this:
Amanda--Jane Blake's world in Victorian London is thrown up-side-down when her mother forbids her from coming home. Jane can't see a reason for this rule and disregards it at just the wrong time, coming home to find her twin brother in his monthly transformation into a werewolf. By all rights, Jane should have been bitten that night, but was saved in the nick of time by the sharply dressed Flynn Cummings and his clockwork dog, Prince Cog. Jane's mother, who chose to stay with her son, didn't get out so lucky.
Now thrust into an unfamiliar world where werewolves roam the streets mermaids haunt the waters, wind-up creatures can talk, Jane must chose between allowing herself to be protected by the clockwork gang leader, Flynn, or risk a life alone on the streets where she might easily fall prey to some magical creature or another.
Steampunk, Fantasy, Paranormal, Speculative Fiction, Humor, Romance
Henry--Everyone knows that every 17th decade after the explosion of the sun, the earth and Mars draw dangerously close to each other. 170 years ago, Albert Einstein as able to develop a force field that kept the two planets from sinking into each other's gravitational wells, but history is repeating itself and Einstein in long since dead. Unfortunately, only 14 year old high school Senior Charles Fox has the interest and know-how in Applied Astrological Physics to stop the impending destruction of his planet, and, more importantly his quantum physics essay that's sure to get him into Harvard. As although he knows the problem, the only way to get access to the Physics department of the local collage and the supplies Charles needs there is through the head of department. Or perhaps, through his blonde 15 year old daughter.
Sci-Fi, Romance, Speculative Fiction
Lexi--I swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. There. Can I start now? Tink's my best friend, and I promise you up, down, and through the window she didn't mean to eat that pixie dust. But it's an honest to goodness mistake to make, especially when you're in airport cafe that serves pixies, fairies, elves, dwarves, and humans, not to mention the occasional hobbit. And I mean seriously, come on. If you saw the salt shaker and the pixie dust shaker side by side, don't you think you'd have a hard time telling the difference too? So yeah. That part was an accident. I can vouch for Tink on that. But as far as the rest of it . . . well . . . that's a different story.
Fantasy, Humour
So, after reading these (but of course they'll be different for your e-mail), you hit reply and tell me which ones you like best. Something like this:
First choice--Henry
Second--Lexi
Thrid--Amanda
And I think that's it. I need your replies by May 14th. Critique partners are assigned on a first come first serve basis, so the sooner you respond, the better. Thanks and best of luck!
P.S. If you're in the mood, leave a comment telling me which of the three synopses you liked the best and least and why. I wrote them all purely for example showing reasons, so I won't be offended or anything.

Welcome to NaNoCritMo!
Hello writers!
Welcome to NaNoCritMo, short for National Novel Critiquing Month, an event in which writers gather together to critique each others' novels. We will be hosting a trial run of NaNoCritMo this June, details to come soon. (No, I did not make that rhyme on purpose.)
We will post updates and announcements here, so if you're participating, be sure to check in once in a while.
Happy writing!
